Resources of the Blind (RBI) Incorporated and Philippines Central Engagement Services (PCES), Inc. have joined hands through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing in Quezon City on Thursday, July 10 to support job seekers with visual impairment across the country.

About Resources for the Blind, Inc. (RBI): A Philippine Organization for the Visually Impaired

The Resources for the Blind, Inc. (RBI) is a non-government organization (NGO) founded by Dr. Arthur Lown which focused on empowering Persons with Visual Impairment through specialized training and development programs for over 37 years. Before that, it started as a personal project to Braille the Filipino Bible.

RBI aims to unlock and discover the skills and full potential of persons with visual impairments through programs such as inclusive education, training, equipment support and secure suitable employment. In addition, it continues to create opportunities for the blind community across the Philippines.

PCES Inc. and RBI Partnership for Boosting the Blind and Visually Impaired Job Opportunities

The MOA signing was led by RBI Chairman Gary J. Zamora and Executive Director Amelia M. Torrente. Meanwhile, PCES Inc. was represented by Chief Executive Officer Valery Millano and DPO/IT Director John Ronald Robillos.

PCES is a web development company, and it built various job platforms dedicated for all Filipinos, companies and organizations. Among these, notably, is pwd-e, an online platform exclusively for persons with disabilities to secure employment in the future.

Pwd-e website’s goal is to help visually impaired individuals secure employment through this website, therefore proving the organizations’ commitment to inclusive employment and equal access to diverse opportunities for them, in order for them to attain a long lasting employment.

As a result, the partnership highlights the growing movement toward inclusive workplaces in the Philippines.
